Video: Lenny Kravitz Rocks The Beatles’ ‘Get Back’ on ‘Letterman’

Last night on “Late Show with David Letterman” Lenny Kravitz fronted a band that did pretty much a note-for-note cover of The Beatles “Get Back.”

Not so cool as Broken Bells revamp of “And I Love Her.”

Listen: Rare Beatles 1963 Recordings For Sale at iTunes, Hear Excerpts

A 59-track collection of previously unreleased but bootlegged recordings, The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963, is currently for sale at iTunes today for $40.

A BBC news report explains: “The 2-disc set was apparently released, then removed, early on Tuesday, causing speculation it was only being published briefly to extend the copyright period.”

In Europe, in order for copyright of recordings to be extended past 50 years, the recordings have to be made available to the public. This accounts for two sets of Bob Dylan recordings, one from 1962 and one from 1963, that have been released in very limited quantities by Columbia Records during the past two years. And for the availability of the Beatles’ recordings.

However, the set is currently available. I just purchased and downloaded the recordings from iTunes.

Listen to 30-second excerpts here, where you can also currently buy them.

Listen & Watch: The Beatles Perform “Words Of Love” Live at the BBC, 1963

The Beatles performed Buddy Holly’s “Words of Love” on the BBC in 1963, a year before they recorded it for their UK album, Beatles For Sale.

Check it out.

Ringo Starr, The Photographer: A Gallery Of His Beatles Photos

Photo by Ringo Starr via The Hollywood Reporter.

A book of photos by Ringo Star, “Photograph,” was published earlier this year. Turns out the Beatles’ drummer and sometime singer is a pretty good photographer.

You can check out a gallery of his photos (24 of them) at the CBS News site and there are nine different photos by Ringo at The Hollywood Reporter. It’s definitely work a look if you care about the Fab Four.

What The? NME Compiles A Crazy Top 500 Albums List

So here’s the thing. If you were making a list of the best 500 albums of all time, would you really include Foo Fighters? How about MGMT’s Oracular Spectacular? I mean really? Come on. Seriously?

But if you’re picking 500 albums and you’ve got albums by James Brown and the Rolling Stones and Radiohead and Bob Dylan and Miles Davis and John Coltrane and Billie Holiday and Prince and Johnny Cash and Sleater-Kinney and Tom Waits and the Beach Boys and Woody Guthrie and Joanna Newsom and Bob Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago, and on and on, would you really include include “Bleach”? Or two Kings of Leon albums?

Or how about Arctic Monkeys’ Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not as the 20th best of all time.

Oh well.

Here’s the Top 20:

1. The Smiths – The Queen Is Dead
2. The Beatles – Revolver
3. David Bowie – Hunky Dory
4. The Strokes – Is This It
5. The Velvet Underground – The Velvet Underground & Nico
