Billed as a ‘simultaneous sonic poem’, the performance was a molten, volcanic flood of ideas. Taking control of London’s Oval Space venue, the collective spewed forth 37 minutes of inspiration, deeply improvisational music.
Released as ‘Words To The Blind’ via Stolen/Pop Noire, Boiler Room were on hand to film proceedings.

Dig Savages new a-side, “Fuckers,” which along with the flip,a cover of Suicide’s “Dream Baby Dream,” was recorded at the group’s November 6th, 2013 performance at London’s Forum.

Savages will release an EP later this year that will include the track “Fuckers.” Singer Jehnny Beth told Australia’s Tripple J radio: “We’re going to release a song that we play live called ‘Fuckers’. We recorded it live from a show did in London last fall at The Forum. It’s going to be available on vinyl as well. We’re also be covering a Suicide track called ‘Dream Baby Dream’.”

Savages turn the world upside down again, this time, in their latest video “Strife,” replacing the usual hot babes of music videos with two men, in swim suits, fighting it out on the beach. Shot in glorious black and white and directed by Antoine Carlier. The song is off the group’s debut album, Silence Yourself.

At the Classic Grand in Glascow last Sunday (November 10, 2013) Savages covered this classic by Suicide. The recording isn’t the greatest and the video is a bit dark but there’s an excitement in this performance. I love it.

British electronic musician/singer-songwriter James Blake has won this year’s Barclaycard Mercury Prize for his 2013 album, Overgrown, beating out David Bowie’s The Next Day, Arctic Monkeys’ AM, Savages’ Silence Yourself and others.
A group of music critics and music industry players choose the winner each year.
Past winners have included Portishead, PJ Harvey and the xx.
