Black Flag founder Greg Ginn can’t prevent former bandmates including onetime frontmen Keith Morris and Henry Rollins from using the group’s distinctive four black bars logo, as well as its name, according to a story in Rolling Stone.

On Tuesday (Oct. 8, 2013), a U.S. District Court judge in California denied Ginn’s motion for a preliminary injunction against his former bandmates, Rolling Stone reports.

According to the legal order, the Black Flag guitarist didn’t prove sufficiently that he owned the name or logo. Defendants had submitted evidence before the judge that showed that the name and logo had fallen into “generic use,” Rolling Stone reports.
