Banksy Goes 3-D For Day Five

OK, so Banksy doesn’t take the weekend off. Very good. For day five of his month-long street art show in New York he’s turned a delivery truck into… Well, let Banksy explain:

“A New York delivery truck converted into a mobile garden (includes rainbow, waterfall and butterflies).”

Secret Of Banksy Philosophy Revealed

So I was over at Banksy’s website this morning in search of info about what wall he’s turned into art on the fifth day of his month-long New York street art show, when I noticed the above quote.

Clearly, it explains not only why Banksy has called this exhibit, “Better Out Than In,” but, really, it explains Banksy’s philosophy regarding all the public art he’s done.

Right?

Meanwhile, since I haven’t yet found images of Day #5 — maybe he takes the weekend off? — below is a recap.

The mysterious graffiti artist Banksy confirmed on his website today that a painting on a wall in New York’s Chinatown is the beginning of his month-long “residency,” “Better Out Than In.”

At Banksy’s website, it now says: “For the next month Banksy will be attempting to host an entire show on the streets of New York.

To enhance your enjoyment of the exhibits an audio guide is provided via cell phone. Simply call the number next to the painting and select the appropriate option on the keypad. This is a toll free service.”

Check out what you hear if you call that phone number:

Deconstructing Station To Station “Nomadic Happening”

Cat Power on the train.

Earlier this week, while lunching at a steakhouse in Barstow, CA, Los Angeles artist and Station To Station mastermind Doug Aitken said his art project “is kind of a living organism… I like encounters; I like randomness and physicality.”

In a a strong feature in the New York Times today, writer Melena Ryzik does a great job of getting at the heart of what Station To Station is all about. The three week traveling art and music exhibit which ends today at Oakland’s 16th Station with, among other things, performances by No Age and Savages.
